Masato has taken pictures of Shonan for a long time. Also, he has taken pictures of young girls for a long time. They are the subjects which he trains his camera on naturally. When the meaning of the photograghy is discussed, it tends to be defined in quite difficult ways such as to consider social problems or to set up a theme. However, Masato just tries to follow his heart.
A man is a troublesome creature who can't follow his heart easily. In a way, he pursues his ideal, but in fact, he just plays the saint to keep up appearances most of the time.
It is difficult for a man to frankly become shameless. Of course, there are some men who are just shameless, but most of us can't be frank. So we wish to live relaxedly with lovely girls. We can't help pursuing such a dream. Althogh it is just an imaginary world, the truth is in an imaginary world, is it not? That's what I think.
Masato HIRAYAMA
1956 Born in Ichikawa-shi, Chiba. Voluntarily graduates from the department of literature of Nihon University. After training as an assistant, becomes a cameraman, a lighting technician, a delinquent teacher at a photography school, etc. Writes reviews of cameras and interpretive articles about photography for camera magazines. Becomes an unrivaled specialist of cameras.
